VIMP for HANDSOME - Hand Hygiene in Nursing Homes

Project summary

Good hand hygiene is seen as a (cost) effective way to prevent healthcare-related infections. In a previous project the GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond and Erasmus MC have developed an intervention to improve the hand hygiene of care staff in nursing homes. The HANDSOME intervention was found to greatly improve hand hygiene compliance. In this project the hand hygiene intervention will be made available for all nursing homes in the Netherlands.

This project will give an impulse to the implementation of the intervention in nursing homes throughout the Netherlands, resulting in increased hand hygiene compliance and prevention of health care-related infections.
