Identification of metastasis-predicting biomarker signatures and drug targets in squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.
Project summary
In this public-private collaboration project, we investigate the issue of which molecular and cellular processes play a role in HNSCC tumour heterogeneity and aggressive metastasis-prone cells. To this end, we have defined 3 objectives: i) to identify, isolate and profile individual aggressive cells from primary HNSCC cultures; ii) to identify cellular and molecular processes and biomarkers of aggressive migration; iii) to investigate the identified processes and biomarkers for novel strategies for metastasis prediction, patient stratification and/or therapy.
