Real-time monitoring of T-cells to identify determinants of immune therapy failure
Project summary
Emergence of immunotherapy has changed the treatment and patient outcome for various tumor types. Unfortunately, patient response and reasons behind failure of response is currently hard to assess. T-cells actively recognize and kill tumor cells. Additionally, their migration towards tumors, and accumulation and activation in the tumor is crucial for the success of immunotherapy. Here, with patient based tumor:T-cell 3D co-culture, we aim to capture the real-time dynamics of T-cells in detail to understand therapy response. This will enable us to accurately predict treatment response in patients, and allow us to generate new (combinational) treatment modalities for non-responsive patients.
